On the Rio Cuiaba, July 26, afternoon

Three hour boat ride on the Rio Cuiaba this afternoon. Saw our FOURTH jaguar, who fell asleep watching us watching her. Enjoyed seeing a momma and baby capybara hiding in the water hyacinths. Several Black Skimmers made an appearance, reminding me of our colony at home on Wrightsville Beach. And more…

A Large Billed Tern

We saw Brazilian porcupine. It is quite unusual to see one. You are going to have to use your imagination to see it in this first picture taken by me  BUT our amazing guide Xavier Munoz saved the day with his photo (on the right)

And, although it’s only 8 pm, I’m ready for bed. One more 6:30 a.m. boat ride in the Pantanal tomorrow. Then we drive to Cuiaba (125 miles).  We fly from Cuiaba to Belo Horiztone late tomorrow afternoon. And then another flight to Barreiras Friday.  Our final stop is a three night stay in the Wolf Camps to see the Maned Wolf, Capuchin Monkey, and Hyacinth Macaw.

Good Night❤️
